Claw Foot Bathtub
A claw foot bathtub is what many might call ‘old-school.’ However, these products never really went out of style. After many years of tubs that are partially built into the wall, many homeowners are returning to this classic style that older generations enjoyed, which not only look better, but is more practical to use and can prevent many problems such as mold.
A model like this is basically your normal tub, except instead of being built in to your home, is raised on four legs of what appears to be claws holding balls. These products come in many sizes and varieties, but the look is essentially the same. This type of model was more common in the past before there were synthetic plastic and other types of materials available. Their thick body efficiently holds in heat and works just like any bath would.
Aside from the old-fashioned look, there are many pros to these types of products. The main benefit is mold prevention. Many tubs are built into walls and have a tight seal of water resistant resin applied around their edges. Despite the best intent of these materials, dark mold can be a huge problem. Moreover, if these material starts to fail, water can get inside your home and cause massive problems. With a claw tub, you don’t have to worry about this. Any water that spills out of the tub is on the floor and is obvious. No water is splashed on walls either.
It should however, be noted that these products do require a bit more space to install than a standard tub.
